3rd week + first Test

My partner and I finished our project this past week and turned it in just before the deadline. As for the class, I am still finding it difficult, but not as much. I am getting used to what the professor expects from us and how to study for the upcoming classes. This week we had our first test. I wasn't sure how to study for it so I just tried to understand the topics that he stressed the most as well as thoroughly understanding the coding for the examples he had on the website. I think I did ok on the test. I found it a bit difficult compared to past CS exams. But I guess I will just have to adapt. I have a partner for this next project already.

2nd week

So this is the end of the second week. The 2nd project is tough (but not as tough as learning how to use git) and some of the material goes over my head during class. But I was put at ease when the professor explained that he wants us to work with things that we don't understand yet. He said that he wants us to research things outside of class to learn about them . This made me feel better about having to do that exact thing just so I could feel like I am "keeping-up" with the class. But I do like that we have piazza (posting anonymously makes me feel better about asking stupid questions) and other tools to help us along the way. This class is definitely intense. I am a little worried about the upcoming test, but I think I will start a study group and get that going.

1st Week- Baptism by Fire

My title for my first entry might seem a little dramatic, but this is kinda how I felt about this class this week. It is indeed "intense" as the professor put it. It isn't so much the material that has kept me busy as much as how much the professor assumes I already know. So far in my comp sci career, I have only had to code things in eclipse, make sure they work, and turn them in. The most command line experience I have had was just turning things in over the unix machines in the cs labs.

That is not to say that I am frustrated with this class. I have learned a lot in this past week about the tools that many comp sci students have been using. I can now use the unix machines to transfer files to and from my local machine. I am even learning to use Git. Hopefully I will be able to use git successfully to get full credit on this assignment.

I can tell this will be a challenging class. But I think once I've learned just how the professor wants things turned in, it will go much more smoothly.
